10 MINUTES WITH SEAN

Q: WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR TWENTY-YEAR OLD SELF?

Whatever you are doing, be sure that it truly aligns with your passion and core values - this may be different from what others may expect from you and that is OK.

Q: WHAT LESSONS HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM FITNESS THAT HAVE SERVED YOU THROUGHOUT YOUR LIFE?

Rome wasn't built in a day. You will not see results overnight, you must continue to put in the work day in and day out - no matter what. Each day you choose to move forward or fall back - stagnation is non existent. you must always move forward.

Q: WHAT KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED?

Helping others. The community which I have built at my gym, and the image I have built in the CrossFit community continues to inspire me to lead by example. On the days I lack motivation, knowing that me doing the "hard" thing or the "right" thing will help others continue to pursue their dreams really fires me up and keeps me rolling.

Q: WHAT’S THE ONE WORKOUT YOU ALWAYS DREAD? WHAT’S THE ONE WORKOUT YOU ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO? WHY?

2K row is my most feared piece of fitness ever. You can't let up at all - the rower screen will immediately tell you you are slacking - just gotta leave it all on the table. I look forward to mid length - high skill workouts as I feel like its a bit of a chess game in how to approach the best way

Q: WITH ANY NEW MODALITY YOU GET INTO, HOW DO YOU APPROACH IT IN ORDER TO MASTER?

Consistency. Gotta get the reps in.

Q: DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE FAILURE? HOW HAS THAT SET YOU UP FOR LATER SUCCESS?

Missing the CrossFit Games in 2015 at my rookie regional appearance by 1 spot. This showed me what I was capable of and lit a fire for me to make it the next year... which I did.

Q: WHAT IDEA, PERSON OR BOOK HAS BEEN THE MOST INFLUENTIAL IN YOUR LIFE? WHY?

One of the most influential is my buddy John O'Donnell who got me ready to go off to BUD/s. He really instilled in me that we are capable of whatever we decide we are capable of. The only limits we have are the ones we decide we have.

Q: HOW DO YOU EMBRACE THE “BETTER THAN YESTERDAY” MINDSET IN YOUR DAY-TO-DAY?

Everyday we either move forwards or backward - there is no standing still. I refuse to move backwards so that leave only 1 option. You must put in work every single day. Doesn't matter if you only progress by .000001% - if you show up, and put your all into whatever you are doing - you are being better than yesterday.
