Q: AT WHAT POINT IN YOUR LIFE DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU WANTED TO INVEST MORE IN YOUR PERSONAL FITNESS?

Honestly, I’ve always really taken my fitness pretty seriously because I have always been the underdog. I always felt that I had to prove myself to be the first one picked for basketball or kickball growing up. That mentality has always stuck with me throughout my life. I guess I would say that it wasn’t until I met my wife, where I switched gears and took my fitness to another level. She has taught me so much more about fitness and pushes me to be better everyday.

Q: WHAT KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED?

My wife is definitely a huge part of what keeps me motivated each day to get after it. I have always been someone who has had self motivation, because I know that there is always room to be better. Not getting a scholarship for college has always motivated me to be better, since coaches told me “I wasn’t good enough, or big enough, or fast enough.” Without self motivation, I wouldn’t have earned that scholarship I felt I deserved.

Q:WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR TWENTY-YEAR OLD SELF?

I would definitely tell my 20 year old self to have more confidence and to believe in your abilities. It’s nice earning respect from coaches, friends, and your peers, but it starts with YOU. You have to believe in you even if no one else does. Also, I would tell him to have patience. I’ve always struggled with that. I would tell him to keep working hard and be patient, because it doesn’t go unnoticed, and it will pay off.

Q: HOW DO YOU EMBRACE THE “BETTER THAN YESTERDAY” MINDSET IN YOUR DAY-TO-DAY?

I wake up everyday with the mindset to get better at something each day. Whether it be in the gym, in my everyday life, or by motivating someone else to be better. Better than yesterday describes a journey with no finish line for me, I feel that when you have your mind set on one goal, another one will pop up. There is always room for improvement.

Q: WHAT’S ON YOUR FITNESS BUCKET LIST?

My main goal is not only to better myself through my fitness journey, but to motivate and inspire others. I would love to travel to facilities throughout the country and collaborate with different fitness enthusiasts and see how they are getting better everyday. I would love to run events throughout the country to share my energy with as many people as possible.

Q: WHAT LESSONS HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM FITNESS THAT HAVE SERVED YOU THROUGHOUT YOUR LIFE?

I’ve learned that on this fitness journey, no one will put in the work for you. I’ve learned that I can relate to more people than I could have ever imagined. I have been blessed with an energy that people could feed off of to motivate themselves and I’ve learned how to use it in my everyday life.

Q: WHY DO YOU PRIORITIZE FITNESS IN YOUR LIFE?

Fitness is a priority in my life, because I love the way it makes me feel. I love that although we are going through a tough time in the world, I can still hop on my computer/phone and share my energy with those virtually.

Q: WHAT’S THE ONE WORKOUT YOU ALWAYS DREAD? LOOK FORWARD TO? WHY?

GBGB sled day ( 5 rounds) 375 Sled push 10 yards and back 20yards total. Over head reverse lunge 45lb plate 10 steps 375lb sled push. Push press 50lbs 10 reps 375lb sled push. Pull ups 10 reps 375lb sled push. 20lb Medball slam+push up 10 reps 375lb sled push. 25lb loaded push ups 10 reps. 375lb sled push. This workout kills me during it, but I feel incredible after.
