Take risks. Get out and do the things you want to do, or the things you need to do, rather than wait or do nothing. John A. Shedd said it best: "A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for."

Q: WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR TWENTY-YEAR OLD SELF?
Q: WHAT KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED?
Surrounding myself with positive, hard-working people. This makes me want to follow their lead. Setting goals/challenges for myself, and doing whatever it takes to accomplish them.
Q: WHAT LESSONS HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM FITNESS THAT HAVE SERVED YOU THROUGHOUT YOUR LIFE?
Growth comes from discomfort. Hard work always pays off. You get out what You put in.
Q: WHAT’S THE ONE WORKOUT YOU ALWAYS DREAD? WHAT’S THE ONE WORKOUT YOU ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO? WHY?
I dread any short/sprint type workouts cause I’m more of an endurance athlete. The workouts I look forward to are the Memorial/Hero workouts. These are workouts that honor the memory of a loved one and the brave men/women who have given their lives in the line of duty. Another reason is that most of the workouts are long, gritty and grunt work style.
Q: WITH ANY NEW MODALITY YOU GET INTO, HOW DO YOU APPROACH IT IN ORDER TO MASTER?
I like to perform a lot of repetitions of any new modularity in trying to master. Repetition helps transition a skill from the conscious to the subconscious. Through this practice over time, the modality gradually becomes more effortless.
Q: DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE FAILURE? HOW HAS THAT SET YOU UP FOR LATER SUCCESS?
No failures, but missed opportunities from playing it safe. Ive got out of my comfort zone and started taking more risks. In return this has lead to me to build new relationships with like minded people and companies.
Q: WHAT IDEA, PERSON OR BOOK HAS BEEN THE MOST INFLUENTIAL IN YOUR LIFE? WHY?
The idea, live your own reality and do more of what makes you happy. Everything else is secondary.
Q: HOW DO YOU EMBRACE THE “BETTER THAN YESTERDAY” MINDSET IN YOUR DAY-TO-DAY?
I live every day as a fresh new start and treat it as an opportunity on how can I be better. I try to pursue the right things, to gain a better perspective and step out of my comfort zone.
